After playing in rock and
roll bands, John and Jim decided to go acoustic around 1995
and began to learn fiddle tunes and ragtime/jazz tunes.
They formed The Cashiers Music Company. CMC played in the
Cashiers area for a few years and decided to add a bass
player, Mark Lassiter Soon, Bill brought his many talents
to the duo. He added harmonica, sax, accordion, banjo,
flute, and penny whistle.
Mark decided to move on and
follow other passions including mountain climbing and
spending time with his wife and their two boys.
Fortunately Joe became
available and added a jazz musical emphasis due to his
experience and education.
Now the band plays jazz,
ragtime, celtic, blues, old time, swing and originals.
While blending all of those styles they provide a wonderful
evening or afternoon of quality entertainment.
They have opened shows for
Doc Watson, Mark O'Connor, and Tony Rice/John
Carlini.
Some of the places they play
are: The Farm [Old Edwards Inn], High Hampton, Wade
Hampton, Chattooga Club, Cullasaja Club, Highlands Cove,
Wildcat Cliffs Country Club, Highlands Country Club,
Sapphire Country Club, Cedar Creek Racquet Club, Rotary's
Fourth of July Symphony Event, and, of course, Relay for
Life. They can fit in your living room or on your deck for
private parties or in large rooms for bigger events.
The band members all live in
the Cashiers area with their families and are involved in
teaching, landscaping, lawing, and construction.
